Ohio State is pursuing one of the top quarterbacks in the 2019 class.
Okay, so that sentence isn’t that intriguing. You expect Ohio State to be interested in any elite prospect.
But what makes their pursuit of four-star quarterback Grant Gunnell intriguing is that Gunnell has been committed to Texas A&M since last June.
Today, Ohio State offered the Houston (Tex.) St. Pius X product. Gunnell now holds nearly 40 scholarship offers.
“I am extremely Blessed and Excited to receive an offer from Ohio State University!! #GoBucks,” Gunnell tweeted.
Gunnell is the No.2 quarterback in the 2019 class, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings. He is listed as a Pro-Style quarterback.
He is the ninth quarterback Ohio State has offered in the 2019 cycle.

A slew of other schools have offered Gunnell since his Texas A&M commitment, so even if he were to back off that pledge, OSU would have competition.
Time will tell if this offer was merely cosmetic or if there is a bonafide shot Ohio State could land Gunnell.
