The NCAA has just announced sanctions against Penn State University. Here are the most notable.
- $60 million fine (equivalent to 1 year of football revenue)
- 4-year postseason bowl ban
- 4 years of scholarship reductions (25 to 15)
- All wins vacated between 1998-2011 (WOW!)
Current student-athletes will have the ability to transfer without sitting out a year due to the situation.
UPDATES: The Big Ten has stated that Penn State will be ineligible to receive bowl revenues during its four year bowl ban, according to the Washington Post.
CBS Chicago is also reportingthat Joe Paterno's last official win (since all wins from 1998-2011 are now vacated) was a 35-10 victory over WIsconsin in 1997. The quarterback? Mike McQueary.
