Top 2021 quarterback Caleb Williams has been making the recruiting rounds this month, paying several elite programs a visit. After giving a pair of SEC and Big 12 giants a look, he's setting his eyes on the Big Ten.
According to Lions247, Williams is slated to make an unofficial visit to Penn State on Friday, and participate in the school's 7-on-7 camp on Saturday. The visit comes just days after visits to Georgia and Oklahoma.
247Sports' Top247 ranking currently has Williams as a four-star prospect and the No. 55 overall recruit in the country. He is the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the country, and the No. 1 prospect from Washington, D.C.
Penn State is one of dozens of Power Five programs to have offered Williams a scholarship. Alabama, Florida, FSU, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, and USC are just some of the teams vying for his services.
Last year Williams threw for 2,624 yards and 26 touchdowns for Gonzaga High School.
Per Lions247, Williams explained that he has a strong relationship with the Nittany Lions coaching staff, and has been waiting for a chance to visit Penn State.
“I’ve known the coaches for a while, going on two years now,” Williams said earlier this month of the Nittany Lions. “I have a good relationship with them. It is strong between them and I. I have to get back up there.”
247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn's scouting report draws a pro comparison between Williams and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.
Suffice it to say, Penn State will likely be rolling out the red carpet for a player of Williams' potential.
