Derrek Pitts, a three-star athlete/safety recruit out of Charleston, WV, announced his decommitment from Penn State Monday afternoon.
Penn State football landed a big win on Saturday, edging out Minnesota in overtime on a huge run by Saquon Barkley. Today, however, the Nittany Lions have lost out on the recruiting trail. Pitts, the No. 2 recruit in the state of West Virginia, is no longer a member of Penn State's 2017 recruiting class.
Pitts originally committed to James Franklin and Penn State back on July 27. He originally chose PSU over Florida, Maryland, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Toledo, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia, which made up the top 10 list he released back on June 25. It will be interesting to see which of those programs get back involved in this reopened recruitment.
