ESPN Suspends Keith Olbermann For 1 Week Following Penn State Twitter Comments

ESPN's Keith Olbermann criticized Penn State and the NCAA in the wake of Joe Paterno's wins being restored, and he drew heat for his early Monday exchange with a Penn State student who tweeted at him about the university's THON fundraiser.

In the wake of that criticism, ESPN released a statement apologizing for Olbermann's remarks and declaring that he won't be hosting his show this week. The statement reads that the decision was a mutual one, but it appears he's been suspended.

We are aware of the exchange Keith Olbermann had on Twitter last night regarding Penn State. It was completely inappropriate and does not reflect the views of ESPN. We have discussed it with Keith, who recognizes he was wrong. ESPN and Keith have agreed that he will not host his show for the remainder of this week and will return on Monday. The annual tradition of THON and the efforts of the students of Penn State to fight pediatric cancer should be applauded

Olbermann also issued an apology tweet moments ago.
