ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit Releases His Big 10 Champion Prediction

The 2018 college football season kicks off this weekend. ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit just dropped his annual prediction piece.

"The Herbies" are always a fun read. They feature a ton of preseason awards and predictions, including playoff picks, national champion, top impact players and more.

Herbstreit also dropped his conference championship predictions as well. He picked the Power 5 champs, as well as the AAC, Conference USA, MAC, Mountain West and Sun Belt.

In the Big Ten, Herbstreit is going with a repeat of 2016: Penn State over Wisconsin in the title game.

Big Ten
Penn State over Wisconsin
Sleeper: Minnesota

Wisconsin is the overwhelming favorite to get out of the West, while Penn State is one of four programs with a chance to win the Big Ten East. Herbstreit has the Nittany Lions in his College Football Playoff.

The sleeper choice of Minnesota is interesting. The Golden Gophers are in the second year of the P.J. Fleck Era, and a lot will depend on the play of true freshman walk-on quarterback Zack Annexstad.

Overall, it should be a fun season in the Big Ten. The league could be the best in the country this year.
