Joe Paterno First Heard Of Jerry Sandusky's Child Abuse In 1976, Per Report

Former Penn State coach Joe Paterno was first made aware of Jerry Sandusky sexually abusing boys in 1976, according to a report by pennlive.com.

The report cites a court document from an insurance case connected to Sandusky's abuse of children.

From the report: 

The line in question states that one of Penn State's insurers has claimed "in 1976, a child allegedly reported to PSU's Head Coach Joseph Paterno that he (the child) was sexually molested by Sandusky."

Sandusky is currently in prison, serving a lengthy sentence. He continues to claim that he is innocent. 

Paterno passed away in 2012.
