Videos: Minnesota Player Ejected After Cheap Shot On Penn State Kicker

Joey Julius, Penn State's beloved kicker, was laid out by a Minnesota player who took a nasty cheap shot on a kickoff.

Late in the third quarter of today's Penn State-Minnesota game in Happy Valley, Gophers linebacker Jaylen Waters took a massive cheap shot on Julius on a kick-off, on a kick that wasn't returned.

The hit cleared the benches, and Waters was ejected for the unnecessary hit.

The 270-pound kicker has a habit of laying the wood on his kickoffs, and had gotten into a tussle with Waters earlier in the game.

Last weekend, big No. 99 blew up Michigan star Jourdan Lewis, who blamed the hit on a missed block by Jabrill Peppers. We hope that he is okay. Julius has turned Penn State kickoffs into must-watch plays every weekend. There aren't too many kickers that can say that.

Over the last two seasons, Julius has registered four total tackles. He also kicked field goals for the Nittany Lions last season, hitting 10-of-12 and 20-of-24 extra points on the season. This year he is just handling kick-off duty.

Penn State and Minnesota are tied 20-20 with just over five minutes remaining in today's game at Beaver Stadium.
