Kirk Herbstreit Thinks There Are 2 College Football Playoff Elimination Games Today

Kirk Herbstreit talks about the college football playoff.

Two games this Saturday could help determine the College Football Playoff field.

The first College Football Playoff rankings will be unveiled on Tuesday, and ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit thinks that Saturday's results will factor heavily into what we'll see from the committee.

Herbstreit thinks that two games are essentially elimination games - meaning that whichever team loses is out of the College Football Playoff picture.

Those games? Penn State vs. Ohio State and NC State vs. Notre Dame. The Buckeyes would have two losses - which would be tough to recover from. The Nittany Lions would have an incredibly difficult uphill climb in the Big Ten if they lost. The loser of NC State vs. Notre Dame would also have two losses.

Herbstreit is probably right, but you never know how the season can play out down the stretch. Either way, today's action should be fantastic.
