While Penn State won't have the opportunity to battle for the Big Ten Championship tomorrow, this weekend is extremely important for the future of the Nittany Lions.

According to 247Sports, the top recruit in the country is Nolan Smith of IMG Academy. Even though he's currently committed to Georgia, the five-star prospect is taking another official visit before he makes his final decision.

He has the versatility to serve as a pass-rushing linebacker or hand-down defensive end, which makes him the biggest prize in the 2019 class.

Smith confirmed his upcoming visit to Happy Valley on Twitter.

There are several elite programs in pursuit of Smith, which includes Alabama, Tennessee, and Clemson. However, it's clear that he's very intrigued by Penn State and its history of recruiting talented defensive players.

From 247Sports:

"Penn State, they are the LBU up north," Smith told 247Sports’ Kipp Adams in early November. "I would not say they are the LBU all-around, but they are LBU up north. You have to visit other places. Ohio State, they just have a great culture. The program culture under Urban Meyer, Nick Bosa, Joey Bosa, all the guys who came there to pass rush. And Larry Johnson is an amazing recruiter."

James Franklin is already regarded as one of the best recruiters in college football, but landing Smith would bump his status even further.
