Penn State Achieves Highest Preseason Ranking In AP Poll In 18 Years

Penn State is poised for a big season.

Penn State won the Big Ten a year ago, but wasn't included in the College Football Playoff because the committee decided that Ohio State - a team the Nittany Lions beat - had a better resume. This year, PSU will look give the committee no choice but to include it.

Monday, the Nittany Lions learned their ranking in the AP Poll ahead of the 2017 season. Penn State comes in at No. 6 - the program's highest ranking since it was the preseason No. 3 team back in 1999.

Penn State's major competition in the Big Ten - unsurprisingly - will beat Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin. We'll see if they can break through.
