The third full weekend of college football is just about to begin. One of the marquee matchups on the schedule is a non-conference showdown featuring Penn State and Pittsburgh.
Penn State has won its first two games in dominating fashion. After winning by 72 points against Idaho, James Franklin’s team defeated Buffalo in blowout fashion as well.
Next up for the Nittany Lions is a rivalry game with the Panthers. It’ll be the 100th meeting between these two programs.
With non-conference games coming to an end for most teams, this could be the final chance for both sides to fix any issues on the field before they get into the heart of their schedule.
Here are the details for the game:
Game Time: 12:00 PM ET
Spread: Penn State -17
Announcers: Chris Fowler, Todd Blackledge
ESPN’s FPI gives Penn State a 93.2 percent chance of defeating Pitt.
Although the Trace McSorley era is over at Penn State, Sean Clifford is handling the starting quarterback job nicely. In two games under center, the sophomore gunslinger has 559 passing yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions.
The Nittany Lions will need another strong performance from Clifford against a secondary that allows only 179 passing yards per game.
We’ll find out soon enough if Penn State enters conference play with a 3-0 record.
