Photo: Penn State WR Matt Zanellato, A Joe Paterno Recruit, Wore "409" On His Wrists Today

Today was Senior Day in Happy Valley, and the Nittany Lions came up short against Michigan. Before the game, each senior on the Penn State roster was honored on the field, including fifth-year wide receiver Matt Zanellato.

Zanellato is one of four players on the current PSU roster who was recruited by legendary former head coach Joe Paterno. He made sure to honor the late coach on the field today by writing the number "409" in black ink on his taped wrists.

Of course, 409 is Paterno's win total as Penn State head coach. It's become controversial in some quarters due to the NCAA sanctions the program incurred as a result of the Jerry Sandusky scandal, but it's a number that is revered among Nittany Lions' supporters.

The last of Paterno's recruits and players are leaving Happy Valley, but it's pretty clear his memory and legacy probably never will.
