On Wednesday, the ESPY Awards took place in Los Angeles to honor some of the best players and teams in sports. In just his first year as a professional athlete, Saquon Barkley was fortunate enough to win a major award.
Barkley became a household name in the NFL very quick due to his outstanding skillset. Even though his New York Giants struggled to win games in 2018, the Penn State legend found different ways to be successful.
The Giants utilized Barkley as their top offensive weapon, allowing him to carry the backfield and be an integral part of their passing game. He finished his rookie year with over 2,000 scrimmage yards en route to winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Barkley was named Best Breakthrough Athlete at the 2019 ESPYS, giving him yet another award in his young career.
It’s incredible to see how much Barkley has accomplished thus far. Not only is he an amazing athlete, but he’s also very humble in his approach.
His speech at the ESPYs spoke volumes about how he conducts himself as a professional.
NFL Offensive ROY, Pro Bowler and now the #ESPYS Breakthrough Player of the Year!
It’s been a good year for Saquon Barkley.

With Odell Beckham Jr. no longer a member of the Giants, it’ll be interesting to see how Barkley handles being the face of the franchise.
All signs point to Barkley handling an increased workload pretty well.
