Saquon Barkley is enjoying a terrific rookie season in the NFL. Despite the NY Giants' struggles, he's top-five in the league in just about every rushing category and is one of the main reasons the Giants have any wins at all this season.
But Barkley isn't letting his NFL success go to his head. In fact, he's already making long-term plans for a career beyond football.
In an article for The Players' Tribune, Barkley said that he plans on going back to Penn State at some point to get his college degree.
"So as soon as I can, I’m going to go back to Penn State to finish my degree. And when I do, I’m going to walk across that stage, hold my degree up high, and then go home and hang it on my wall to show my daughter that I accomplished something great."
He also revealed the three things he wants to be in his post-NFL career: 1. An anchor, 2. A mentor to others, 3. A father to his daughter.
Barkley shared the story of how his daughter was born two days before the 2018 NFL Draft, where he went No. 2 overall to the Giants. He explained that he had two of his biggest dreams come true in a matter of days.
