One of the most underrated traditions in college football is coaches surprising walk-ons with scholarships. It never gets old.
The ways coaches use to announce the surprise are getting more creative each year. The videos of walk-on athletes learning they’ve been put on scholarship are priceless.
Penn State head coach James Franklin gave some good news to one of his walk-ons today, long snapper Kyle Vasey.
At the end of a team workout, Franklin gathered his players together and informed them that Vasey was being put on scholarship.
The heartfelt reaction can be seen below.

Vasey is a rising senior from Lackawaxen, Pa. An Academic All-Big Ten selection, Vasey started all 13 games last season as a long snapper.
When he takes the field this fall, he’ll do so as a scholarship athlete.
