The best story of the college football season had nothing to do with football at all. ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi shared the incredible story of a Purdue football fan diagnosed with bone cancer at a young age.
The college football world soon fell in love with Tyler Trent, who showed his courage and strength at every turn. Trent was on hand to watch his beloved Boilermakers upset Ohio State with an incredible performance on both ends of the ball.
Unfortunately, the college football world lost Tyler Trent on Tuesday. According to his brother’s Instagram account, Trent passed away after his lengthy battle with cancer.
Absolutely devastating news.. According to @theTylerTrent brothers Instagram page, Tyler has passed away. I was able to talk with Tyler a few times while at WLFI and he was an amazing person in every single aspect of life. Thank you for all you did for cancer research. Prayers ❤️

Tyler Trent was an incredible inspiration to the college football world and beyond for the past few months.
Before he passed, Trent announced he was writing a book – his biography – titled The Upset. He revealed his goal is to raise $1,000,000 for cancer research.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Trent family.
