Florida's quarterback depth took a humongous hit when Will Grier was suspended midway through the season, forcing Treon Harris into the starting role. Grier has since announced he's transferring from the program.
The Gators picked up a needed quarterback piece today with the transfer of Purdue's Austin Appleby. Appleby, who threw for 1,260 yards, eight touchdowns and eight interceptions in five games this fall, has already graduated from Purdue and will play his fifth year year for the Gators.

Expecting Appleby to solve all of Florida's quarterback woes on his own isn't realistic, but it should help head coach Jim McElwain to have at least one other player with experience at the position.
