Things did not start off well for Purdue, in the season opener against Marshall. On the first play from scrimmage, quarterback Austin Appleby was picked off by Thundering Herd safety Tiquan Lang, who returned it for a touchdown. Appleby has rebounded well, and is now 10-for-13 for 94 yards and a touchdown. On the scoring throw, Appleby managed to deliver the ball after wrecking lineman Blake Keller with a stiff arm.
