Greg Schiano has been busy on the recruiting trail since being named head coach at Rutgers two weeks ago. Today, he landed one of his former players at Ohio State.
UCF graduate transfer defensive tackle Malik Barrow, a former four-star recruit, announced his commitment to Rutgers moments ago. Schiano and RU hosted Barrow on an official visit this weekend.
Barrow has had an atypical college career, to say the least. After redshirting at Ohio State in 2016, he appeared in two games for the Buckeyes in 2017 before tearing his ACL.
In October 2018, Barrow announced he was medically retiring from football, but changed his mind in the offseason and transferred to UCF.
This fall, Barrow recorded two tackles in brief action for the Knights.

Barrow is eligible to play immediately in 2020. If he’s healthy, he should at least provide some depth on the defensive line for a Rutgers team that needs bodies.
Schiano has secured a number of pledges in advance of Wednesday’s Early Signing Day, including flipping three recruits: three-star ATH Chris Long (Temple), three-star CB Malachi Melton (Purdue) and three-star ATH Robert Longerbeam (Temple).
