The Big Ten Network Is Holding A "Selfie Contest" To Promote NY/NJ

In less than one month, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights will officially leave the AAC, which they played in for one season after the Big East collapsed, for their new conference, the Big Ten. It looks like the the conference is trying to use social media to remind everyone where exactly Rutgers is situated.

The Big Ten Network sent out a press release Tuesday morning that details a "selfie contest" for Big Ten "superfans" in the tri-state area. They're asking fans to take selfies, presumably in their favorite Big Ten team's gear, near NYC/NJ landmarks. It sounds a little ridiculous, but they're actually giving out some great prizes, including tickets, airfare, hotel and transportation to the B1G football title game and tickets to the B1G men's basketball tournament.

Here is the breakdown on how the contest will be judged:

Expression of Big Ten pride - 50%
Showcasing NYC/NJ locations - 40%
Creativity - 10%

So if you're been dying to take a selfie at the top of the Empire State Building in your Ohio State gear, you've got your chance. You can read more about the contest, which ends on June 26th, here.
