Rutgers athletics has taken a beating in the PR department in the past year or two, but at football practice earlier this week, the Scarlet Knights pulled off one of the most inspirational gestures we’ve seen in quite some time. On the final play of practice, the coaching staff allowed two young fans in wheelchairs who suffer from Duchenne muscular dystrophy – Matt DeRiggi and Danny Garofalo – to get in on the action.
The team ran a reverse – everyone’s favorite play – between the two players, which resulted in a touchdown. Check it out:
While it didn’t have quite the same celebration as the now-famous Jack Hoffman run at Nebraska last year, it’s still great to see the Rutgers players do something so nice for the duo. Props to everyone involved here.
