Following tons of backlash from the public, Maryland finally parted ways with D.J. Durkin, as the football program is in search of a new head coach. Well, it sounds like a familiar face is gaining momentum to become a favorite for the job.
The Terrapins will need time to rebuild the face of their program, but the right candidate can certainly achieve that goal. Considering his body of work and comfort level with the university, Mike Locksley is being mentioned as a potential option.
Locksley is currently the offensive coordinator for Alabama. Earlier in his coaching career, he spent time as the running back coach for Maryland. Fast forward more than a decade later, and he found himself as the interim head coach for the Terrapins.
With the Crimson Tide steamrolling opponents, specifically on the offensive side of the football, Locksley will find himself in the mix for the head-coaching gig.
The #Maryland coaching search will be fascinating. There will be a ton on internal support & from key power players for #Alabama OC Mike Locksley. His UNM stint was bad but he has a huge recruiting rep in the area and his Tide offense has been fantastic this season.

Regardless of his previous stint with the program, Locksley is qualified and has strong ties to the area.
In addition, Locksley also has the support of numerous people on social media.
Of the six names I just posted, I'm keeping a close eye on Alabama OC Mike Locksley and Baylor HC Matt Rhule.

The search for a new leader at Maryland will eventually begin, and it would be wise to keep an eye on the former Terrapins offensive coordinator. After all, Crimson Tide assistant coaches have found great opportunities over the past few years.
