Wisconsin forward Nigel Hayes is known for being outspoken.
Last month, he showed up at College GameDay with a "Broke College Athlete" sign to protest the NCAA. Tonight, he penned a heartfelt letter to the University of Wisconsin about racial injustice on campus.
Hayes' letter comes after a Wisco fan showed up at last weekend's game wearing a costume of Barack Obama in a noose.
The full transcription can be found here, but Hayes' letter in part says athletes of color are "are loved during competition, but then subjected to racial discrimination in our everyday lives too" and "many universities across the nation need to start addressing how students of color are treated."
The University of Wisconsin's official Twitter account recognized Hayes' tweet and responded to it.
Wisconsin announced earlier today that the two fans responsible for the offensive costume would have their season tickets revoked.
