On Saturday afternoon, the Wisconsin Badgers entered their game against Illinois with an undefeated record and a huge game against Ohio State looming in the background.

The Badgers and Buckeyes were all set for a clash of titans next weekend. After Ohio State took care of Northwestern on Friday night, all Wisconsin had to do was win against the Fighting Illini.

However, Wisconsin dropped the ball.

After entering the game as a 30.5-point favorite, the Badgers fell on a last-second field goal. Illinois walked in as a heavy underdog and walked out with a 24-23 win.

Following the loss, Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst was asked about the loss. Here's what he had to say, via ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.

"Your last two drives end in turnovers, you give them a chance. It’s always harder to win on the road, and you make it that much harder. There’s a lot of areas for each individual we’ve got to get better, learn from, and then move forward."

The loss likely eliminates Wisconsin from the College Football Playoff - unless the Badgers win-out and get some help.

Next weekend's matchup against Ohio State carries significantly less weight with the Wisconsin loss as well.

The Badgers will hope to bounce back against the Buckeyes in Columbus.
