Longtime college football expert/handicapper Phil Steele's individual rankings are calculated a little differently than other sets of ratings.

Every year, Steele calculates his average game rankings, which he arrives at by factoring in a team's yards, points and quality of opponent. After four weeks, Steele has an interesting team ranked No. 1.

The Wisconsin Badgers are the top-ranked team according to Steele's game grades. Behind them is Ohio State.

Alabama is No. 3, while Clemson is down at No. 4.

Wisconsin is ranked No. 8 in the AP poll and No. 9 in the Coaches. However, when you consider how Steele calculates his rankings, it makes sense the Badgers would be higher.

They have been the most dominant team thus far this season, routing their opponents on both sides of the ball. This Saturday's 35-14 win over Michigan sent a message to the rest of the Big Ten.

You can argue the Wolverines are overrated, but it is also pretty clear at this point that the Badgers are for real.
