Wisconsin football had an excellent 2016 season, going 11-3 with a 7-2 Big Ten record, and winning the Cotton Bowl Classic against Western Michigan. Today, the Badgers' rings are out.
Wisconsin appears to have bucked this year's hot new ring trends, but putting the correct record and not including a lost game on the jewelry. The ring focuses on the Cotton Bowl, a 24-16 win over upstart MAC power Western Michigan, featuring the game's cotton logo prominently.
Wisconsin's run was very impressive, especially when you consider how it lost its three games. The Badgers fell to Michigan on the road 14-7, and lost at home to Ohio State in overtime the very next week. The final loss was another one-touchdown defeat, to Penn State in the Big Ten Championship game.
It is hard to have a much tougher Big Ten schedule than the Badgers did, but Paul Chryst's team put together a very strong campaign anyway. Wisconsin hopes to build on it in 2017. The team hosts its spring game tonight.
