Wisconsin's athletic board approved a renewal of head coach Paul Chryst's five-year contract on Friday afternoon.
In a release by the UW Athletic Board, it was announced that Wisconsin football head coach Paul Chryst will receive a five-year renewal of his contract, carrying him through the 2021 season into January 2022.
Several other head coaches received extensions or renewals as well.
Chryst's renewal is no surprise, as the Badgers have experienced two excellent season's during his tenure, with a combined 21-6 record through the 2015 and 2016 seasons. The Badgers are also 2-0 in bowl games under Chryst. Additionally, Wisconsin is 13-4 in conference play the last two seasons, winning the Big Ten West division outright in 2016, only to be defeated by Penn State in the Big Ten title game.
While Chryst might not get as many highly-touted recruits like other top-tier programs, (Wisconsin's recruiting class ranked No. 6 in the Big Ten in 2015 and 2016, and ranks No. 9 this year), Chryst always seems to get the most out of his players. You can't argue with the results.
