The Wisconsin football program received tough news on Wednesday as Zander Neuville announced that his football career is over. It’s a devastating end to his long career with the Badgers.
Neuville was nearing a return for Wisconsin this month. He’s dealt with major surgeries to both knees over the course of his career.
Wisconsin was waiting for word on when the sixth-year senior tight end could return. Instead, the program has to rally around the loss of Neuville.
He revealed on Twitter that he suffered another injury. That is the reason he must end his football career at Wisconsin.
“Unfortunately, I have sustained another injury, one that means an end to my football career,” Neuville wrote on Twitter. “While this is disappointing, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I had this year and throughout my career at Wisconsin.”
In his post on social media, Neuville thanked his coaches and teammates.
“I want to thank Coach Chryst, Coach Turner and the entire coaching staff for allowing me to play at this incredible University. Thank you to the athletic trainers, strength coaches and support staff that have helped me throughout my career. I have so many great memories and have made lifelong friends because of this program.”

Despite suffering a torn ACL twice during his time with the Badgers, Neuville continued to show his toughness and determination.
Not having Neuville to help Wisconsin’s run blocking could hurt at some point this fall. For now though, the football program looks pretty sharp as it prepares for a showdown with the Michigan Wolverines.
We wish Neuville all the best in the next phase of his career.
