The Clemson Tigers are coming off of their second national title in three years. After a dominant performance against Alabama in the title game, Dabo Swinney and company hit the recruiting trail hard and it's paying off.
Swinney and the Tigers are so loaded that the team needed to turn down five-star recruits.
Five-star defensive end Reggie Grimes reportedly said the Tigers are "basically" out of the running in his recruitment. That news came just a few months after Clemson made his top-10 list.
So what happened?
Well, the recruit said Clemson told him the team filled its defensive end and linebacker spots - which he was being recruited for.
Grimes is the No. 3 defensive end in the 2020 class. Despite being a five-star recruit and the No. 28 player in the nation, Grimes didn't make the cut for the loaded Tigers.
Clemson offered Grimes, but it looks like that offer may have expired.
The Tigers currently have the No. 2 class in the 2020 cycle and the No. 1 class in the ACC. However, the team does not hold a commitment from a defensive end or linebacker in the class so far.
Dabo must be happy with the players he already has on the roster.
