With college football less than two weeks away, publications have been putting out all kinds of “all-time” lists in preparation for the season. Sports Illustrated dropped an interesting one on Monday.
SI decided to rank the 10 “greatest” college football programs in history. Some fans are not thrilled with how the list turned out.
Alabama checks in at No. 1 – ahead of Big Ten powers Ohio State and Michigan. There isn’t too much to debate there.
The main issue seems to be Oklahoma’s ranking in relation to a few other programs. SI has the Sooners as the 10th-best program of all time – behind Tennessee. They’re also six spots behind their main rival Texas.
Here’s the list:
8. Penn State
6. Notre Dame
2. Ohio State
The author of the post, Ross Dellenger, made sure to note that it was a collective effort over at SI to put the rankings together.

For all those on the attack in my mentions, the @si_ncaafb staff as a whole ranked this list. I only wrote the blurb on each team.

Personally, I believe Oklahoma should be in the top five – ahead of Texas. The rankings for Tennessee and Penn State also seem a little high. Other than that, it seems fine.
College football fans – what do you think of the list?
