1995 Nebraska Was The College Football Version Of The Warriors

That Huskers' team was the closest thing to the Warriors college football has team.

This year's Golden State Warriors' team is probably the most star-studded, dominant team in the history of the NBA.

Golden State, which won its second NBA title in three years on Monday night, added Kevin Durant to a 73-win team and ran through this year's playoffs, going 16-1.

Which college football team is most-like this year's Warriors squad?

There are a couple of good picks, from the 2001 Miami Hurricanes to the 2004 USC Trojans, but the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers are probably the best pick.

Nebraska's '95 squad did the following:

  • Went 12-0, 7-0 in the Big 12
  • Score 50-plus points in six of their 12 games
  • Beat four top 10 teams, all of whom by at least 20 points
  • Won the national championship game over Florida by a score of 62-24

That Huskers' team, featuring Tommie Frazier, Ahman Green, Christian Peter, Tyrone Williams and Grant Wistrom.

They were unstoppable.

They're the closest thing college football has seen to the Warriors.
