Houston vs. SDSU preview:

After upsetting then No. 3 Oklahoma in their season opener, the Cougars rattled off four straight wins before falling to Navy. They ended the season with a 48-44 loss to...Memphis? Strange. It's been a weird year for the Cougars, and they'll look to redeem themselves with a nice bowl win over the SDSU Aztecs to cap off the season. It's also worth noting the Cougars will not have head coach Tom Herman at the helm for the bowl game, as he left for Texas last week.

San Diego State enters the contest having won their second Mountain West title in a row after defeating Wyoming 27-24 last Saturday. It's their third MW title since 2012, and their appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl will be the program's seventh straight bowl game appearance, a school record. As underdogs in the match-up, they don't have much to lose. The Aztecs are 0-2 all-time against the Cougars.

Houston vs. SDSU prediction:

This will be an awesome match-up. Both of these teams are incredibly similar with stifling defenses. However, I think we've seen more out of Houston this year. SDSU faces mostly mediocre opponents, and we know that Houston can compete with the likes of Oklahoma. They have a tendency to play down to their opponents, but the Cougars show out against the Aztecs and get the win.

Houston 38, SDSU 27
