Notre Dame lost a commitment today.
Kalon Gervin, a 4-star corner from Cass Tech in Detroit, Michigan, made a surprising announcement regarding his recruitment. Gervin, who had been committed to Notre Dame since February, dropped the following tweet detailing his decommitment from the program.
Instead a long statement, as is customary with many of these types of tweets from recruits, Gervin had only a short message for his Twitter audience.
According to 247Sports' Composite Rankings, Gervin is the No. 21 corner back in the 2018 recruiting class. Gervin also held offers from Michigan, LSU, and Florida, among others, before committing to the Fighting Irish.
It's an interesting development in Gervin's recruitment, because he seemed to be certain in the days following his commitment to Notre Dame. He even went as far as to say he made a "40-year decision" when he committed to Brian Kelly and company.
He also seemed excited about the class Notre Dame was putting together for 2018.
Gervin will have plenty of time to decide where he wants to go, but Notre Dame fans should be confused heading forward. Where will Gervin decide to take his talents? We'll keep you updated with the latest recruiting news.
