The four-star recruit explained what happened.

The most-viral moment of National Signing Day 2018 came during the announcement of a four-star wide receiver. The wideout's mom wasn't happy with her son's decision.

Jacob Copeland, a top recruit out of Florida, committed to the in-state Gators. He picked the Gainesville, Fla. program over Alabama and Tennessee.

The mom wanted Alabama. Or Tennessee.

She was wearing an Alabama sweater and a Tennessee hat on-stage during the decision. She immediately walked off the stage (and in front of the TV cameras) when her son put on the Florida hat.

This all happened live on ESPN2. The moment instantly went viral.

She eventually came back inside and gave her son a hug. Both were pretty emotional.

Copeland has since taken to Twitter to explain what happened. Basically: She likes to put on a show.

Well said, Jacob. For those who missed it, this is what happened:

Copeland is the No. 12 WR in the 2018 class. He's the No. 69 overall recruit, per 247Sports' Composite Rankings.
