The 2019 college football season is set to truly get underway in a little more than 24 hours, with Week 1 of the year kicking off on Thursday night.

Week 1 isn't filled with elite matchups, as there's only one game between top 25 teams in Oregon vs. Auburn.

Perhaps we'll get some upsets, though.

We've put five teams on "upset alert" heading into Week 1 of the 2019 college football season.

1. Purdue at Nevada

The Boilermakers are a popular breakout team pick in the Big Ten this season, as Purdue boasts arguably the conference's most-entertaining player in Rondale Moore.

Road games are never easy, though, especially to start the season.

Purdue enters this contest as a 10.5 point-favorite.

2. Stanford vs. Northwestern

This one could be one of the best games of Week 1, pitting two Power 5 teams against each other.

Stanford enters this contest as a touchdown favorite, though Northwestern has what it takes to pull off the upset.

The Cardinal will look to avoid losing to the Wildcats like they did a couple of seasons ago.

3. Utah at BYU

Utah enters the 2019 college football season as a darkhorse College Football Playoff team, with several analysts picking the Utes to win the Pac-12 and find a way into the national championship race.

The Pac-12 contenders should start the season with a nice win, though this is a big rivalry game, and BYU will come out looking to pull off the big upset.

It's a night game, too, so the crowd at BYU should be rocking.

4. Oklahoma vs. Houston

The Sooners will be starting Jalen Hurts at quarterback in 2019, looking to make another run at a Big 12 championship and a College Football Playoff berth.

Houston, meanwhile, is now led by former West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen.

5. Notre Dame at Louisville

The Fighting Irish enter the 2019 college football season as a top 10 team with national championship hopes.

Notre Dame comes into this game against Louisville as a 20-point favorite, but this is a road night game, and you never know what can happen in Week 1.

This should be an easy win for Brian Kelly's team, but if the Fighting Irish start slow, this could be interesting.
