One of the top offensive linemen in the country has decided to open up his recruitment. He remains committed to his school, but he's going to take some visits.

Kardell Thomas, a five-star offensive lineman and the No. 1 offensive guard in the country, has been committed to LSU since July 2016. That's a long time.

Up until now, Thomas had reportedly planned on shutting down his recruitment completely. However, that is apparently changing.

Chad Simmons of Rivals.com reports that Thomas now plans to take visits to other schools.

Alabama, Miami, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas and USC are believed to be in contention.

The full update is behind a paywall on Rivals.com:

Thomas is one of the top recruits in the country. He's ranked the No. 20 recruit in the class by 247Sports' Composite Rankings.

It's unclear when Thomas plans on making an official decision regarding all of his visits. Stay tuned.
