7 More Alcorn State Football Players Arrested After Cafeteria Fight

More arrests resulted from an on-campus fight involving football players.

Wednesday night, it was reported that 11 Alcorn State football players were arrested for their involvement in an on-campus fight. Less than 24 hours later, seven more football players have been arrested for their role in the cafeteria fight.

According to the Clarion-Ledger, the fallout from the on-campus brawl continued after the April 10 fight.

The seven players arrested Thursday include: freshman wide receiver True Gibson, junior defensive end Ramonte Bell, junior wide receiver Marquis Warford, running back Arron Baker, defensive lineman Sterling Shippy, junior defensive lineman Randall Tucker. Claiborne County sheriff Frank Davis also identified Cornelle Gilmore as a member of the football team, although Gilmore is not listed on the school’s football roster on the web site.

The charges are reportedly all misdemeanors ranging from "malicious mischief to simple assault."

No other students have been charged in connection to the incident.
