A former Louisville football star and high NFL Draft pick is reportedly expected to be cut at some point this month.

Lorenzo Mauldin, a 2015 third-round pick out of Louisville, is reportedly on very thin ice with the New York Jets, and he didn't make the trip down to Washington to practice against the Redskins.

The 6-foot-4 linebacker could soon be on the open market, per Jets reporter Manish Mehta.

"Something to monitor: Jets OLB Lorenzo Mauldin, who's dealing with leg issue that kept him out of game Friday, is on thin ice. Could be cut sooner rather than later, per sources. If he can't get healthy, don't rule out injury settlement. 2015 3rd rounder has been disappointment," he tweeted.

Today, Jets head coach Todd Bowles said that Mauldin didn't make the trip to D.C.

"Todd Bowles said today that Mauldin didn't make the trip to Virginia. It's easy to see where this is headed."

Mauldin was the No. 82 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was an All-ACC performer at Louisville in 2014.
