Graham Mertz, a four-star pro-style quarterback out of Kansas, is one of the best QB recruits in the 2019 class. Some might say he's the best. "I've heard from coaches that (he) is the best QB recruit nationally and gotta say, he looks damn good at Elite 11," says SB Nation Recruiting.
The star quarterback recruit is Wisconsin's - for now, anyway. Mertz has been committed to the Badgers since last October, but he could be on the verge of flipping his commitment.
The 2019 QB class is not believed to be a good one - some analysts are saying it's one of the worst they've ever seen - but everyone seems to be high on Mertz. This means several major programs without a quarterback commit are desperately trying to flip his commitment.
The two schools trying hardest might be Ohio State and Notre Dame.
"Notre Dame working hard to flip him from Wisconsin," says Irish Illustrated.
Ohio State, meanwhile, has reportedly "zeroed in" on him. Some analysts expect him to make the flip, too. Wisconsin has been there since the beginning, though, and the Badgers probably still have a leg up on everyone else moving forward. But it won't be surprising at all if Mertz ends up flipping.
