On Saturday afternoon, two LSU student-athletes were taken into questioning after one person was found fatally shot in the back seat of a truck Saturday afternoon.

According to a report from The Advocate, the shooting occurred in the Scotlandville area, and police have detained the two people who were in the front of the vehicle for questioning. Initial reports failed to note the identity of the two student-athletes.

However, one of the athletes involved has now been identified as running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, according to The Advocate.

LSU's Vice Chancellor and AD Joe Alleva released a statement about the incident.

"We have today been in constant contact with law enforcement regarding this terrible situation. Right now, our concern is for the safety and well-being of our student-athletes. They have been involved in a traumatic incident and we have made our counselors available to assist immediately. All questions regarding the investigation should be direct to law enforcement at this time," the statement reads.
