Adrian Martinez dazzled for much of his first-career start against Colorado last weekend. Nebraska's true freshman quarterback threw for nearly 200 yards and rushed for more than 100 yards before getting hurt. The Huskers lost their starting QB late in the fourth quarter of the close loss to the Buffaloes.
What is Martinez' status moving forward? Here is the latest injury update for the Huskers' quarterback.
Martinez is questionable for today. Scott Frost has said all week that they were taking things day by day with the former four-star recruit.
The quarterback continues to be evaluated. Frost added this week that a decision on his status for Saturday could be made "two minutes" before kickoff.
"Scott Frost said he might make a decision on Adrian Martinez '2 minutes before kickoff.' Said Martinez will warm up at the very least. Said decision to play or not play Martinez will be 'strictly physical,'" Sam McKewon tweeted.
Martinez is the only scholarship quarterback on the Nebraska roster this season. The Huskers were forced to play a walk-on when he went down against Colorado last weekend.
We're only a couple of hours away from kickoff in Lincoln, Neb. More updates on the status of Martinez will likely be released this morning.
However, as Frost said earlier in the week, it doesn't look like a final decision on Martinez will be made until right before kickoff. Martinez will likely warm up with the Huskers and see if he can go. There's no need for Nebraska to make a decision one way or another until then.
