Earlier: Alabama beat Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff semifinal in January. Tonight, they beat them for a major four-star recruit.

Denton (Tex.) Ryan four-star outside linebacker Drew Sanders had been committed to Oklahoma since November 2017. However, after two April trips to Alabama, including his official visit last weekend, Sanders is now pledged to the Crimson Tide.

"My recruiting is 100% over. I will be playing football and attending the University of Alabama!!" Sanders wrote.

The 6-foot-5. 222-pound Sanders is the No. 3 athlete recruit and the No. 4 player in Texas, according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings. He is being pursued by Alabama as an outside linebacker. Overall, Sanders is the No. 34 prospect in the 2020 class. He is the second-highest rated commitment in Alabama's 2020 haul, which is now ranked No. 1 in the country. LSU leapfrogged the Crimson Tide and Clemson to take over the top spot over the weekend, but Sanders' decision has vaulted Alabama back to No. 1.

Update: Well, Alabama stayed ahead of LSU for about 30 minutes after Sanders' commitment. LSU retook the No. 1 slot following the pledge of four-star linebacker Antoine Sampah.

Expect Alabama, LSU and Clemson to jockey for top honors in the 2020 team recruiting rankings.
