Alabama Has Been Using Blake Sims To Prepare For Deshaun Watson

The Crimson Tide have been using a former Alabama quarterback to prepare for Clemson's offense.

Deshaun Watson gave Alabama's defense fits a year ago and he's likely to do at least some of the same on Monday night.

To help prepare for this year's showdown, Nick Saban is using a former Alabama quarterback to prepare for Clemson's star.

Blake Sims has been helping the Crimson Tide prepare for Watson.

From AL.com:

Former Tide quarterback Blake Sims played Tigers star Deshaun Watson on Alabama's scout team last week in Tuscaloosa, Sims told AL.com.

This is the second time Sims has worked with the scout team this year, having also helped during the buildup to the Tide's game against Texas A&M in October.

Sims is allowed to do this via NCAA bylaw 14.2.1.6.

"A former student at the certifying institution (e.g., former student-athlete) may participate in an organized practice session on an occasional basis, provided the institution does not publicize the participation of the former student at any time before the practice session."
