In the midst of the United States women’s national soccer team’s historic World Cup run, Megan Rapinoe was unstoppable. Her play on the field will be remembered. But it was her celebration after scoring a goal that’s become iconic. So iconic that the same celebration has found its way onto the football field.
No. 2 Alabama crushed SEC opponent South Carolina 47-23 on Saturday. Running back Najee Harris had the play of the game, and possibly in all of college football’s week three.
The 6-foot-2, 230-pound back took a short pass 42 yards to the house, breaking multiple tackles along the way. Harris shoved off the first defender, hurdled the second, simply shrugged off the third and turned on the jets outracing anyone else to the end-zone. Amazing is an understatement.

You may have been too distracted by the run to notice Harris’ celebration after the score. But the Bama back paid tribute to Rapinoe, displaying her iconic celebration.

Sports fans love the shout-out to the legendary soccer player. Rapinoe has certainly made a huge impact not just in sports, but off-the-field as well. Props to Harris.
The Crimson Tide started out their SEC slate with a bang. Next up, they’ll face Southern Miss in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.
