It has been a rough week for running backs in college football. Another one has been declared out for the season.

Georgia Tech's KirVonte Benson joins Oklahoma's Rodney Anderson and Minnesota's Rodney Smith as running backs who suffered season-ending injuries last weekend. Benson was injured in Saturday's loss at USF.

Georgia Tech announced news of his injury this morning, though they did not specify the nature of it.

Benson is a B-back in GT's triple option attack, meaning he lines up as a traditional fullback, though he's more of a running threat than blocker. He's the Yellow Jackets' bellcow.

Last season, Benson rushed for 1,053 yards and six touchdowns. He rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries in two games so far this season.

Benson scored both of his TDs in the season opener against Alcorn State.

Georgia Tech will face Pitt this weekend at 12:30 p.m. ET.
