Virginia’s Antwaun Powell is emerging as a top defensive line recruit in the country. The four-star recruit is starting to whittle things down.

18 schools have offered Powell thus far. On Wednesday, he announced a top eight schools list.

It is a pretty diverse group of schools, representing three power conferences, as well as independent program Notre Dame. The ACC and Big Ten are particularly well represented.

Duke, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech make the list out of the ACC. Maryland, Michigan, and Penn State are the Big Ten teams vying for his services, while Oklahoma makes the list from the Big 12.

Antwaun Powell released his top eight schools list via Twitter.

The 2020 defensive end is ranked No. 247 overall in the country, per 247’s composite rankings. He’s the No. 12 weak-side defensive end and No. 4 player in Virginia, out of Portsmouth’s I.C. Newcom High School.

247’s crystal ball does not yet have any predictions logged.

This weekend, Oklahoma will host Powell on an official visit. The team recently announced that it had moved the spring game from Saturday up to tonight, so he’ll have the chance to see something similar to a gameday atmosphere in Norman.

He recently took an unofficial to Georgia Tech.

Powell’s other offers include ECU, Liberty, Louisville, Marshall, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pitt, Rutgers, TCU, and Virginia.
