We're still a few months away from the 2020 college football season--provided there is one. Things are trending upward though.
The official preseason polls won't drop until August, but outlets are beginning to unveil their official preseason top 25 lists. Athlon Sports did so today.
Athlon dropped its way-too-early top 25 after LSU's win over Clemson in the national title game back in January. There are similarities between that list and this one, but plenty of changes were also made. After all, a lot happens during the offseason, including transfers, NFL Draft decisions and late recruiting additions.
Clemson, the No. 1 team in Athlon's way-too-early rankings, remains No. 1 this time around. However, Alabama is now right behind them, with Ohio State dropping one spot to No. 3. Defending champion LSU has also fallen several spots.
Athlon Sports' preseason top 10 is as follows:
- Ohio State
- Penn State
- Notre Dame

Here at The Spun, we're a few weeks away from dropping our preseason college football top 25. We typically put out our list in mid-to-late June, so be on the lookout for that.
In the meantime, we're all just waiting to hear what the plan is for this season. Reports of colleges allowing student-athletes back on campus are trickling in, which is a good sign.
If we had to bet, there will be a 2020 college football season; it just won't look like your typical one.
