Barstool Sports is making moves in the college football world. The digital media company is the newest sponsor of the Arizona Bowl.
The college football bowl game will now be called The Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl. The game will be broadcast exclusively on Barstool Sports’ website and social media channels, as opposed to CBS where the Arizona Bowl was originally broadcast.
“Today is one small step for man….. Yes I am proud to announce that Barstool Sports is the new sponsor of the Arizona Bowl not only for this year, but for for the foreseeable future,” wrote Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy. “While obviously sponsoring a Bowl game is a big deal in itself we arent simply slapping our name on this and running away. We also have exclusive broadcasting rights meaning the game will air only on Barstool Sports channels on New Years Eve Day with Barstool personalities fully immersed in the broadcast. (Smell ya later CBS) It is a true partnership with the Arizona Bowl, the MAC, and the Mountain West Conference.”
This is yet another new development in the rapidly changing world of college football. Despite the Arizona Bowl being a non-primetime contest between teams from the MAC and Mountain West, the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl should garner a large audience due to the company’s reach.

It’s unfathomable to consider how far college football has come in just the past few months alone. A bowl game partnership with Barstool Sports wouldn’t have even been considered a year or two ago. But as previously said, the sport is changing as we know it.
This could be the beginning of non-traditional bowl game partnerships within college football.
