Ohio State hired Bill Davis to its defensive staff.

Longtime NFL assistant coach Bill Davis is set to join the Buckeyes coaching staff. According to Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman, Davis will become a part of Ohio State's defensive staff.

It's likely that Davis will take over some of the responsibilities of former co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Luke Fickell. Most recently, Davis was the defensive coordinator for the Eagles from 2013-2015, but is a longtime linebackers coach and defensive assistant.

The addition of Bill Davis only helps a defense that ranked in the top five in points and yards allowed during the 2016 regular season.

Urban Meyer has a history of hiring great coaches, and adding a coach with NFL experience to his staff will help both on the field, and with recruiting.
